ART112 – Rhythm and Line

Finished up another ART112 project. This one had to do with Rhythm. The first drawing is a contour line drawing and the second is of different geometric shapes.

Just completed another project for ART 112. The focus of this assignment was the concept of TEXTURE. We were to make some squares of text that could be printed or copied then cut and pasted onto a background sheet. I chose rows of descending and ascending size x’s because I think they look like zippers.

Just finished up my second project in ART112 class. I am taking this class online through Rio Salado College. Yes, I know…what am I doing taking art classes? Well, first of all, I just don’t know what to do with myself if I am not in school somehow. And second, I am not going to be a math teacher forever so would like to have some additional skills to apply once I retire (in 10 – 15 years or never given the current state of our economy).

Back to the art project…EMPHASIS (also called Focal Point)…according to my text (Design Basics by Lauer and Pentak) there are several ways to achieve emphasis including:

  1. Emphasis by Contrast
  2. Emphasis by Isolation
  3. Emphasis by Placement
  4. Lack of Emphasis

The attached pictures illustrate each of these concepts.
